Drama Queen

There's a scene in Cinderella where Cinderella is out in the garden on her knees with her head resting in her arms on a bench and she's crying. Her evil stepsisters have just torn her dress to shreds and she isn't going to be able to go to the ball to meet her Prince Charming.

I'm reminding you of this part of the movie because it was about two minutes after this scene that Bella came over to the couch where I was sitting, got down on her knees with her head resting in her arms on the couch and started "crying". For a second I wasn't too sure what she was doing, but then I realized what we'd just seen on the TV, and it was all too clear.

Sandbox Fun

We went over to our friends' house the other night and Bella had a blast playing with their kids (and of course all the new-to-her toys). The hit of the evening was the sandbox, followed closely by the Panna Cotta.

The evening started out innocently enough with the kids lapping up their desserts.

And from there it went quickly downhill to pouring sand on eachothers' (mostly Bella's) heads. Ironically, they all seemed to love it. It might look like Gus is getting some evil pleasure out of pouring sand on Bella's head, but she was loving it just as much as he was. If you'll notice, she's contributing the bigger cup of sand in the second picture.

After a while, it got boring and Bella enjoyed some un-interrupted play in the sandbox.

She got a bath as soon as we got home.

Sunday at the Lake

One of the residents from Bishop Place (where Andrew used to work) invited us all up to her family's cabin on Coeur d'Alene Lake yesterday. So we headed out after Andrew got home from work and spent a very lovely afternoon swimming, boating, eating, and just sitting on the deck, relaxing. Bella even went out on the boat with us, and those of you who know me can probably guess that it took a lot of courage for me to okay that. She had a great time though and enjoyed sitting in her little innertube, floating on the waves.

"Don't kiss me. That's gross."

That's what she says now when we give her lots of kisses on her face and neck.

Judgements

Here are two very toddler-esque commentaries from our walk this morning.

We passed by a couple with a little boy in a stroller, and we said "Hi". Both parents had dreadlocks, and I think the dad even had dreadlocks for a beard (how do you say that? Dreadlocks in his beard? He'd 'dreadlocked' his beard? Despite living in Eugene for 6 years, I am ignorant on the subject). Anyway. Once we passed by, Bella asked, "What's that?" I replied, "It's a baby". She replied, "With a snake." Take it as you will.

Later, we passed a man jogging without a shirt on. Once we'd passed, Bella commentated, "He's nakee!" (naked).

I'm just thankful that she waited until they'd all passed by before passing her judgement.

Breakfast Choices

This morning, Bella asked for cheese and a bagel for breakfast. So I sliced the cheese and the bagel and the child was served. Once she finished the cheese, she decided that the bagel was yukky and declared, "Mama! I'm hungry! Have some marshmallows!"

Toddlerhood

You would be correct in noticing that neither of her feet are on the ground on this picture....and yes, she did fall.

And then here she is getting checked over by Papa.

Pool Play

I'm sure you all are getting tired of these pool pictures, but I'm posting some more anyway. Here ya go.

Soaking herself...

So funny...

Uncle Scotty pouring water on her. She's blurry because she's shivering (and yet he's still pouring water on her).

Getting toweled off by Grandma...

Looked over by Uncle Scotty...

Recovering.

New Stroller

Bella's old Graco stroller had seen some better days and just wasn't cutting it for our "daily" walks anymore. So we put some gift cards to good use and ordered a new stroller last week. Here's Bella loving her new wheels.

Fun at the Park

We headed out to the park last night with some friends who have a daughter just 6 months younger than Bella (and another who's about 4 mo.). Bella and Riley had a great time swinging and going down the slides together. We need to get this kid out more often.

The kiddos swinging together...

Riley's little sister hanging out...

Comin' down the slide...

Climbing up for another run down the slide...

Bella laughing hysterically when Riley goes down the slide...

Bliss...

Dads taking the big little girls for a walk around the park...

4th of July

Here's a little photo montage from our July 4th activities.

Bella enjoyed the food and playing in the yard and playing with her little friend Ophelia, but when the fireworks came out she was shaking like a leaf and crying. Of course, we shouldn't be too surprised seeing as how she's the kid who cries when she sees a birthday cake with candles.
